Dragged myself off to see Away We Go. A good movie, though one I'd want to watch again? Huh, not so much, but still good. It's going for the quirky Juno feel--it has Allison Janney even the more over the top than she was in Juno--but for me, it wasn't trying so very hard to be quirky as Juno was. This was especially evident to me in the soundtrack, which meshed with the movie, rather than the Juno soundtrack, which to my mind at least was so pretentious in its attempt to be alternative. It advances slowly but nicely to its conclusion as the lead couple seek to find a city they want to call home as they prepare to have their first child. The lead actors are good and the supporting cast is fun, though I would have liked to see more exploration of Verona's relationship with her sister Grace.

When at the grocery store I like to sometimes take a look through the frozen food aisle and see if there's anything there to provide inspiration for dinner. One of the new Marie Calendar dishes, pasta al dente, I think, had a rigatoni with sausage and meatballs so...made that for dinner. It was good! Not spectacular but filling. If I try it again, I'll make my own meatballs rather than using the frozen ones.

And rented Defiance, starring Daniel Craig, based on a true story. Yes, another Holocaust-period movie and only the story of its origin making it really stand out as the performances are...adequate. Rather than watch it, I'd recommend picking up a book on the inspiration of it, the Bielski brothers. Heh, will have to check that out myself.

FEH how quickly a day off goes by. But closed on 4th of July and next week we shift into the summer hours so that'll shorten the day. Will be glad to see the 4th of July go by, so these idiots will stop setting off their damned fireworks.
