Had a somewhat productive weekend. Packed up a bunch of stuff yesterday, did some more today, there's still more to be packed up but the end is in sight and all that remains is getting the stuff out of here next weekend. Then figure out what to do with the things I don't want to keep. Got up earlier than usual today to do the laundry and there's a celebration in itself, that it's the last time I'll have to do the coin laundry again. Perks of having a washer and dryer with the new apartment! No more stretching the clothes out to three weeks.
Packing up reminds me again that I have a LOT of crap. I have brother's cast from when he broke his arm as a kid. Plus stupid little sketch things I did as a kid that mom saved and photo albums and LIBRARY CARD from junior high or high school lol. I've done a lot of paring down with the book collection but there's no away I'll get rid of some of them, like the illustrated Black Beauty I've had for decades. To show you how very old these books are, for some reason I have two copies of a trade paperback version of Misty of Chincoteague with a list price of $1.50. Not even HARLEQUINS are $1.50 anymore.
Though it'll be nice to move somewhere new, I will miss this place a little. Okay, so maybe not so much, I think I will miss only having a place completely and utterly to myself. There'll be a bedroom of my own though.
Watched some of old Torchwood and, maaan, do I miss the way the crew was. But I'm also satisfied with where the show has gone.
A week from now...in new place. Fun part is going to be cleaning this one up.
First off, those Light of Day recruits? DUMB AS THE DUMBEST DUMB THING. "The first evil was Eve, eating the apple, that's why they call it eve-il." LMAO. I also cackled over the Jesus being the first vampire. And Jason is just an ultra special brand of dumb. He's the epitome of dumb redneck boy, accent and all. The couple in charge of the Light of Day, I keep getting this vibe that the wife is bait dangled out for the ideal recruit, with the hubby's hands on the pole, ready to reel the recruit in.
Ooo and Bill being all masterful with Jessica...or trying to be. At first the character of Jessica seemed such a stock, stereotypical character but the actress has brought her some nice depth and she and Hoyt are just precious cute together. The Dallas arrival and Bill zipping out of the coffin to protect Sookie, while Jessica is all, how does this damn thing open? LMAO. Sam not an alpha...oh, no argument there! The Dallas hotel gives new meaning to the words room service, with willing donors to supply the vamp clientele. And Psychic Barry!
All in all, all sorts of cute going down in this ep. Bill being snarky and petty towards Eric, Jessica having fun with her powers and getting the Leon guy to do pet tricks. I suppose I shouldn't have found that bit to be funny but I did. I wonder...how close is this to the actual books? The Dresden TV series didn't follow the books at all, aside from one episode kinda reworking the first book, and if the books are this fun, I should check them out.
Makes me kinda wish they would do the Anita Blake series, it would fly on HBO, but then I'm afraid they'd go for the sexploits tone of the latter books and forget about the action and intrigue of the earlier ones.
